Eco-Advisory Group
We have convened two Eco-Advisory groups. The intention is to build community, while learning about the field of ecodharma.
Our first eco-advisory group was composed of 14 senior mindfulness/meditation practitioners who were invited to participate. Eco-Advisory members were based in North America and lead efforts at the intersection of mindfulness and meditation and the impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss. Over the course of a calendar year 2022-2023, the advisory discussed the ways that the techniques of Buddhist and mainstream mindfulness can most effectively help people meet the intersecting political, social and environmental crises in the world today.
Our 2022-2023 advisors were: Dekila Chungyalpa, Jeanne Corrigal, Bonnie Duran, Margaret Fletcher, Susie Harrington, Kaira Jewel Lingo, David Loy, Brian J Nichols, Lama Rod Owens, Tim Ream, Nic Redfern, Kirsten Rudestam, Ven. Santacitta Bhukkhini, Deborah Eden Tull
“Earth Based Mindfulness and Meditation: An Exploration of Eco Dharma Practices” reflects a synthesis of what the 2022-2023 Eco-Advisory group shared with the BESS Family Foundation over the course of the year together. Click here for PDF version.
Tricycle Magazine published this article describing the Eco-Advisory’s work.
A second eco-advisory group, composed of 24 mindfulness/meditation practitioners, is running from 2023-2024. All are leading efforts at the intersection of mindfulness and meditation and the impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss.
